Hurricane
Ivan - We're not going to let a little rain stop us!!
Hooves Ltd. was hit by
Hurricane Ivan in the wee morning hours of Saturday, September 11th,
2004. Although we suffered significant damage to our stables, our trails were
impassable with downed trees and limbs, and our beach was 2 ft. deep in
flotsam and jetsam....we were determined that a little wind and rain would
not stop us!
We hired the services of a nearby
village; men, women and children, and had our trails, beach and stable
areas up and running in 3 days. We resumed our Beach ride
on Wednesday, September 15th...a mere 4 days after the hurricane hit!
We were fortunate that we had no
injuries amongst our herd. As most of our horses are rescued from the
racetrack, they can become easily traumatized by major events such as a
hurricane. Ours made it through without a scratch!
Hooves Ltd. would like to thank the
many staff members and people who banded together with us to get the
debris cleared, tend to the horses and get our operation up and running in
record time!
