Tom
and Tina Williams formed Hooves Ltd in 1994.
Tom
was born in Jamaica and worked extensively overseas, while
Tina hails from England and has been involved with horses
since she was six years old. Tom and Tina wanted to offer
visitors to the Island a chance to see the rural side of
Jamaica, without having to travel all day in a bus, and so the
concept of guided tours on horseback was conceived.
In
the beginning, Hooves Ltd, the tours were conducted by Tina,
who acted as tour guide.
When she became pregnant with their daughter Kiara, she
stopped tour guiding and picked up the reins of the Company.
Since
they started the operation in 1994, the Hooves stable has increased
from 12 to 67 horses, many of them had been abandoned or were
rescued by the J.S.P.C.A (Jamaica Society for the Prevention
of Cruelty to Animals), in poor condition and given a home
with Hooves.
